Posted by Mark in When it comes to looking for a job, the first thing that comes to mind is a resume. Usually when we think of resume, we think of something that is clean and contains everything there is to impress an employer. However, not all resumes are the same. Although we have a certain mindset as to what a resume will look like, some people take the concept of resume above and beyond. In the past we have covered creative resumes and once again it’s time to look at some more. Some of these resumes are ones people actually used during a job interview and some are concept only, but they are some of the most creative resume you’ll ever see.

These resumes are completely unreadable. Perhaps it’s because I’m not in a “graphic design” field and feel that most designs in general are too “out there,” but none of these would sell me on any of their graphic design abilities. Typos galore. Information smashed all over the paper. No thank you.
ok, they just blew my mind away. honestly, some are not too readable. but there are a few that just shout out to the reader and i will say, if you are trying to get the attention of the recruiter, you have done it. next, of course is the interview itself.

Wow these guys are amazing! XD Well, this is coming from the perspective of a student hoping to land her dream job in the future.
I’m a writer so definitely I won’t be able to produce such creative resumes like these without spending a lot of time learning the programs to make them. To be honest though I like the simpler ones more like #19 & #20.
I spent close to 20 years in HR and probably read over 10,000 resumes. If I’d ever pulled one of these out of an envelope I’d have interviewed the person even if just on spec – these folks clearly know how to think outside the box, and success today requires that you have at least a few such people on your team!

Isn’t this what they tell us not to do when we compose our resume? I have to concur with Erik, perhaps this is okay for the world of graphic design but the format of a resume is the way it is for a reason.

Woah. I was not expecting to see my resume featured in this article! My only question is why are all the resumes from DeviantArt? The image quality in this blog doesn’t do justice to all of the resumes since they are more legible in print format.

I agree with Stephanie #19 and 20 are catchy plus the #6. I am not a writer but definitely gave me an idea to be more creative on my resume, yet it’s all up to my interview!
To get an interview, we should be able to impress the hiring manager with our resume. Which means it’s a very important tool if you want to land to one of your dream jobs. Resume has to be perfect. Your resume should track your progress towards your career goals. But now a days in presenting your resume you have to think “outside of the box” present your resume in a different way. Surely your post is a big help. It’s totally “out of the box.”

I don’t know the first thing about graphic design, so I’m only commenting from my own layman’s perspective.
They’re certainly eye-catching but personally, I’d never actually submit a CV like this. Even with creative jobs, I’d imagine it’s something of a gamble, either you’re going to catch someone’s imagination or you’re not. That said, I’d never be going for the kind of graduate jobs where it might be appropriate, so my perspective’s limited.
Has anyone ever submitted two copies of their CV, one traditional, to get the info across and one creative, to show off what they can do?
