When it comes to looking for a job, the first thing that comes to mind is a resume. Usually when we think of resume, we think of something that is clean and contains everything there is to impress an employer. However, not all resumes are the same. Although we have a certain mindset as to what a resume will look like, some people take the concept of resume above and beyond. In the past we have covered creative resumes and once again it’s time to look at some more. Some of these resumes are ones people actually used during a job interview and some are concept only, but they are some of the most creative resume you’ll ever see.

  1. Social comments and analytics for this post…

This post was mentioned on Twitter by applicants: 20 Mind Blowing Creative Resumes http://bit.ly/bppzO6 #design #resume…

  2. Ben Moreno says:

This has inspired me a lot. I might just have to create my own for my next interview.

  3. Wow those have to be the worst CV’s I have ever seen? Is this post supposed to be a joke?

  4. Mark says:

Not at all John. We agree that some of these resumes are a bit out there. However, in creative positions such as graphic designing, etc. these can actually so their talent right off the bat.

  5. Talk about standing out from the pile. Great stuff.

  6. Seriously? I employ designers and there is no way I would off the back of some of them… encouraging poor typesetting, poor font choice and general mess on a page doesn’t really make a good CV.

The best CV’s are simple, clean and most of all don’t take forever to try and read. The work is what sells the person first and foremost with number 15 being the only one I can understand.

Sorry to sound harsh but there is so much crap on the internet and bad design, freelancers need all they can to stand out but that doesn’t mean 50 layers in Photoshop and tons of ‘cool’ fonts.

  7. Adam Zak says:

The function of a resume is simple. It must clearly deliver information which allows the reader to understand how the candidate can add value to an employer who has a business problem which needs solving. That’s why we hire people, after all.

In this sense, a resume must sell the person it represents. In my opinion, while these are certainly creative, none passes that important test.

Put your awesome graphic designs into an online portfolio and link to it. But keep the resume clean, simple and excellent. Show that you can communicate in writing as well as with your designs. Adam Zak

  8. I’d just like to add your number 1 is a CV for a copywriter yet has a grammatical mistake on it…

See if you can find it as it’s ‘Mind Blowing’

  9. I guess it all depends on how you want to “market” and brand yourself. Beware but daring to be different may get you noticed but doesn’t always land you the job.

  10. Designer_ToGo says:

Definitely creative and will standout in a pile, no doubt. But when there are 100’s of people applying for the same position, the the recruiter has to move quickly through the pile. They want to be able to locate skills, experience and education quickly. If they have to hunt, in the round file it goes. Keep this in mind when getting crazy with the info on the page.

  11. easypaisa says:

ya you are right nicely presented resume puts a good impression over the interview taker and if that is combined with real talent and good academic and professional record there is no chance one can be rejected at all . But surely a good resume is the first impression.

  12. lecicine says:

My prefered CV is the 9 By Dragonorion it is simple but very detailed but the most funny is the first.

  13. Dan says:

I really liked some of them-really creative indeed but some wore to busy looking.I wonder what is the success rate in job finding with nonstandard type of resume.

  14. K says:

    Are you kidding me?

These are considered “mind blowing” ? It looks like they’ve OD-ed on photoshop filters.

Like the other said, Resumes need to be clean and simple to read. Most of these are gag-worthy.

  15. hope says:

  17. yousi says:

The C.V must be combined with the skills owned by the individual
Can not be written or spoken, but see in person
There are those who are his C.V without end, but are merely ink on paper if it did not have the appropriate skills and sufficient knowledge of the position you are filled by.

  20. mada says:

amazing very creative but does hrd will accept it? i think all resume will accept on design grapichs only

  21. nadystu says:

The more simple a CV is clear, pointing strict to the important advantages and disadvantages that are required for the targeting job, then the quality of CV is better. Although it is not a good idea to reveal your disadvantages, I personally consider it is better to be honest and to admit whenever you are asked something and you don’t know.Just be yourself.

  22. d man says:

While I think all of these are interesting, I would never submit something like this for a job I really wanted. I think my qualifications should stand on their own and not need lots of extra stuff to win the reader over.

The resumes were very attractive. As for me I still would prefer those simple and clean resume, if it needs some graphics, maybe just a little but not that much. But I admired those who really takes time making resumes as attractive as it can be. It is somehow showing something about your personality.

  28. reibong says:

honestly all of the resume above are cool. i like the simplicity of heydani. i also like the slick presentation of Brankovukelic. am amazed looking at the creative resume. i never thought that it’s allowable or acceptable. all throughout my application days and even during my working days, we are into the traditional form of resume.

  29. Casey G says:

wow these look like someone was practicing on a photo editor account. People really do this?? I would not submit this to a potential employer but for fun just to see if I could do it yes…People should obviously know that if they send that to an employer they will immediately throw it out…

  30. Jargoness says:

First of all, nice article and ideas.

I personally love creativity, and some of those CV are really brilliant. The 5th for example, “want more designerd”, was witty, tidy.

Didn’t like the 4th instead. The idea is original, but I think it’d take too much time and effort to read it all, therefore ‘interviewers’ could find it.. annoying.

Still, that’s my personal opinion. :)

    Regards

  31. knug says:

It’s absolutely interesting resume, but we should be careful when using that kind of resume because sometimes there are companies that don’t like it or they just like the simple one.

  32. abu riyadh says:

It is a great sample of resume writing and it is beyond my knowledge. I hardly see this kind of resume writing in my place. Normally we use a plain resume without any graphic design. It is really cool to have this kind of resume and i will try one later.

  33. solidus37 says:

Hmmm. I agree with others.. Simplicity and Clean CV is better. Although the sample design of CV’s are good, their are employers that will reject the CV. The CV should always be simple, informative and straight to the point.

  35. Jonathan says:

I was really impressed by the creativity of the resumes here, although I have to say that I am not convinced resume No.7 works because the fonts are too small. Still, I have to admit that it is as creative as others.

  36. parthiban says:

i think if i prepare one resume like this the H.R will kick me out the room..lol ..

  42. restti ds says:

this is really great, i never thought that this thing could actually be applied in the real world. we’ve heard once that making your cv’s colorful and artistic will not be entertained hence the interviews will not give a time checking on it.so it is practical to just create a very simple word cv’s. but after seeing this wow on my next job im gonna make sure i’ll be applying this concept.good job and thanks for sharing.

  43. Amit Sati says:

Well there are some amazing piece of creativity and I appreciate the work. However still confused that Corporate people will accept it as much a creative head loves it.

I think best thing will be to have one creative and one conventional resume. Creative one can always be placed to showcase online and wherever possible, and conventional to distribute to corporate guys.

  44. Ramkumar says:

Its a nice collection of CVs. Sometimes when we are in a position to expose our creativity and skills simultaneously, these kind of CVs are required, especially for animators and designers. It depends on the perspective of the person who looks at it.If I were the person, I would defenitely appreciate it.

  45. kashif says:

Creating a good resume is a difficult task which requires time and effort. But the task has now much easier with 20 mind blowing creative resumes and one can create a very effective resume with the help of it.

  46. Barnali says:

I agree with some of you that a resume should written as clearly as possible in simple but correct english. The would be employer should and can judge you from your resume long before you meet him personally. I think, you write you resume in your personal style, though sometimes may take help from some resume templates.

  47. Daniel says:

You can be creative, but creative does not necessarily mean good. Most of these resumes don’t use the design to communicate anything, not to mention the fact that they’re extremely scattered and/or disorienting. Good design is about effective communication, which few of these have.

  48. Tanmi Gold says:

Your Resume is a window to your skills ans therefore it should show all your expertise and that too in a creative way to impress the employers.
The above mentioned ways indeed make up some brilliant and Creative Resumes for definite success.

  49. Fawad Ahmed says:

okay looked at wizzardofkitty find it useful compared to others thanks very much

  50. Dutch says:

I completely agree with John, these break so many rules that it’s really ‘mind-blowing’.. In a very bad way, You should honestly feel ashamed for promoting a lot of these ‘mind-blowing resumes’, their neither creative nor mind-blowing.

Remove a few, and add more bad ones in and change the title to “20 ball busting horridly uncreative résumés” and it’ll be completely right!
