AmazonFail : Twitter Users and The Revolt Against Amazon ( Screenshot)

Amazon’s recent decision to remove the sales ranking of gay and lesbian books from its site has caused quite a stir on the web, especially Twitter. Many blogs have covered this story which shows Amazon’s lack of proper decision making and of course Twitter has become the choice of many to voice their concern and opinion. Robst, a gay romance author pointed the fact that Amazon is filtering out gay and lesbian books as “adult” in nature.

The main point of this article is to once again point out the effectiveness of Twitter, not just as a marketing tool for businesses but as a consumer tool to voice concern and criticism. This is not the first time Twitter has been the first choice of consumers to retaliate against a business. A while ago with the help of Twitter, a group of Mommy bloggers were able to force Motrin to take their ad down.

It is amazing how powerful Twitter has become. Businesses are always singing and praising the benefits of twitter as a marketing tool but it can also be their worst nightmare. In this case, twitter is probably the worst nightmare Amazon has come across in a while. Whether you are a one man business or a corporate entity, just make sure you do the research before executing your next move. With Twitter and an active community surrounding it, every move you make can either break or make your brand in social media.

I guess Amazon is now calling it a glitch. One twitter user has a pretty good answer to that,
