The 44th President Barack Obama gave an impressive speech to a joint session of congress. In his first speech to the congress he prioritized on three critical issues
- Energy
- Health Care, and
- Education
If you visit the recovery.gov site you will be able to see the amount that is allocated for these three categories. $59 billion for Healthcare, $43 billion for energy and $53 billion for education. The President started his speech saying that the economic state we are in didn’t happen overnight. We strongly agree. The reason for the recession isn’t because the government or the people messed up last night and woke up the next day to find a economic turmoil. This is something that has been brewing for the past several years. Government, banks and people of America themselves took steps and made judgements that seemed viable in the short run but failed to realize the long term impact. That is why we are here today. The lack of foreseeing the future not only by the government but the people as well is the true reason why we are all facing this economic crisis.
When talking about Energy this is what The President had to say ,
New plug-in hybrids roll off our assembly lines, but they will run on batteries made in Korea. Well, I do not accept a future where the jobs and industries of tomorrow take root beyond our borders — and I know you don’t either. It is time for America to lead again.
NYPD will be rolling out forty environmentally-friendly 2009 Nissan Altimas as part of the “going green” initiative. We personally think the economy would probably get a little boost if the NYPD had considered giving the auto market here in US a chance. Hopefully Obama’s promises are delivered in due time.
There certainly is hope although more Americans than before are losing hope when it comes getting the economy back in health anytime soon. President Obama also made clear that he realizes that with a plan that the government has put together, there are huge responsibilities. And that he knows how easy it is to take the route of wasteful spending. This is when he mentioned,
That is why I have asked Vice President Biden to lead a tough, unprecedented oversight effort — because nobody messes with Joe. I have told each member of my Cabinet as well as mayors and governors across the country that they will be held accountable by me and the American people for every dollar they spend. I have appointed a proven and aggressive Inspector General to ferret out any and all cases of waste and fraud. And we have created a new Web site called recovery.gov so that every American can find out how and where their money is being spent.
Average Americans are sometimes referred to as the “Average Joe,” and President Obama is right, Nobody messes with Joe. Americans have been hit by banks, by the government and by big corporations and its about time the government realizes that the public won’t take any more of the tried and failed approach. Yes, we do have our part in this failing economy but average Joes were given hope, they took it and today we face the economic crisis that was beyond our wildest dreams couple years ago.
Mr. President is right. Nobody messes with Joe!

Barack Obama for me is the most charismatic president to be ever elected. He also makes great decisions, for example in the ecomomic stimulus package to counter the effects of recession.

I am enormously anxious concerning the upcoming election. When I think about what is happening in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Middle East (not to mention the U.S. economy) we sure should be looking for a good leader. I’m convinced that Barack Obama or any of the Republican contenders so far have the experience or skills it takes to do the job the way it needs to be accomplished. Being president of the United States is an exceptionally challenging job. Is there any man or woman out there with the experience, skill, and moral courage to do the job?
