People are worried about the economy. Although the government and economists tell us every once in a while that the economy is recovering, we are still worried sick as to what the future holds. Lately when I am around friends and families they all seem to talk about one thing – How they would change things if they were in power. Some say silly things and some make a very valid point. We would like to hear your thoughts as well. Since we can’t just make you think for the sake of thinking, we have decided to make it a contest.
The contest is simple, just answer the question below. It will end on 09/25/09 (Friday). On Friday we will choose the best answer and will contact the winner. Here is the question,
If You Were The President, How Would You Do Things Differently?
Some topics we would love to hear would be unemployment, healthcare, etc.
note : We will be announcing the winner on Friday. Make sure to subscribe so you are notified if you are the winner.

If i were the Presdient, then,
1) i would make spiritual education compulsory (dharma, zen, meditation, etc) because ultimately we need ‘good’ humans to run the society and education is permanent when it reaches the core subconscious & the deepest corners of our souls.
2)I would invest time and resources in establishing Anorcho-Democratric System.
3)I would encourage the ‘green’ healthcare system – including ayurveda, homeopathy, acupuncture, etc.
4)Make money system more transparent, because alot of money has been going in the pockets of the elites without our notice and wish.
5) Remove exams, yes thats right, we do not need to prove ourselves when we are spiritually ‘pure’.
6)All of the above shall not be forced upon the cost of individual freedom and happiness.
If I were President I would:
1) FIRE EVERYONE & hire brand new folks. Right now everyone’s hand is in someone elses pocket &/or beholden to someone.
That makes for BAD decision making when the influence to something or another is present.
Decisions should be made as to RIGHT OR WRONG, GOOD OR BAD…
but FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE…not a “debt”.
2) Make Marijuana legal. The income from the new taxes imposed “dealers”, growers, import/exporters and such would greatly decrease the National Debt.
3) Make a REALISTIC Medical Policy available to ALL Americans regardless of age, social status or race.
Ensure that the medical community provides NON-JUDGEMENTAL aid for patients, as well as provide aid to patients not based on which “promotional item” they’ve received. Enact punishment for those who do.
Ensure the medical community receives decent amounts for services rendered and put a “cap” on charges for services that need it.
3) Make sure I speak to the American Public without a jaded tongue. Ive lived both sides of the stick: silver-spoon & wooden-spoon. I dont mince words, I dont bow down to threats nor am I beholden to anyone and I DAMN sure speak the truth. I would DEFINITELY not lie and would do and say whats best for the American People.
I wouldn’t hide my mistakes and would own up to them if and when they present themselves.
HOW CAN WE TEACH OUR CHILDREN RIGHT if we DON’T LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES, which is taught by owning up to, and correcting, them?
I HATE politics! It’s all a bunch of hypocrites & spin doctors saying whatever will get them to “the next level”.
SCREW THAT.
Im just me, and I will STAY me. Even if I were President.
Obviously, the U.S. desperately needs solutions for healthcare, employment, and the economy. But since most people are talking about those issues, I’m mentioning a different one.
One big thing I would like to change has to do with political parties. I feel that too much focus is placed on the political party a candidate belongs to, rather than considering the individual’s merits, qualifications, moral standing, platforms, etc. Ideally, I would like to see the need for parties to be completely eliminated, but practically, I’d like to lesson the influence of a person’s political party and put the emphasis on what the person has to offer. This may not seem like an important issue, but I feel it would make a big difference in the way people campaign, vote, and serve. We should all be voting for candidates who we truly think are the best fit for the office for which they’re running, rather than voting for whoever happens to be a member of a certain party. Changing how we vote will change who we vote for, which in turn will change how and what things get done.
Sorry, forgot my second point: immigration. If I was in the White House, immigrants would no longer get a free ride. Our ancestors years ago had to work hard to get here and stay here. I don’t know when or why our country started slacking off, but the days of “all come, all served, at the expense of our own countrymen” would be over. The attitude seems to be, “You have it bad in your country? Well, come to America! We’ll say it’s wrong for people to come here illegally, but we’ll let you in anyway. And we’ll give you free health services, housing, food. Whatever you want! We’ll even bend over backwards to learn your language so you don’t have to learn ours!” It’s wrong, and it needs to stop. People deserve a better life, but at this point, we can’t even help our own homeless and starving citizens. So why are we working so hard to help others? By all means, help people less fortunate, but make sure legal, hard-working Americans are on the top of the list.
If i were president,I would make sure that the american citizans came first to get their needs supplied.Medical, social security, food ect…Money would not be send over to other countries but used here in the Wonderful USA to benifit the people of the USA.
If I were President, I would laugh and play more. Whether children or adults, we all learn and connect best doing these two simple things. If the grownups started laughing and playing together, 99% of the rest would fall into place.
If I were President…
1. I would make getting America back to work first. From having job fairs to offer free networking events. It’s time to get our country back to work again.
2. Get our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan back home. Time to focus in our country for a while.
3. Provide programs to get America in shape and good health…especially our children. If Americans exercise, eat right, stop smoking, etc., health care would not be a very hot topic these days.
4. MAKE GOING TO COLLEGE AFFORDABLE!! Even for the ones who are still looking for work, give them a chance to go back to school so they can take a new career path or sharpen their skills for better jobs.
5. Take care of our elderly parents. They took care of us when we were kids, it’s time to return the favor.
6. Make volunteering an American tradition. In order for us to get out of the recession, we need to help each other out in the meantime.
7. Provide all schools the latest technology to kids will be able to learn new computer skills. As well as make improve our scores in math and science.
If I were President . . .
If I were President, everyone would walk a mile in the shoes of the serviceman. It would become the custom that every young person spend a portion of their teen years and young adult life working or volunteering in the service industry of their choice. Those who do will be rewarded with the knowledge, the skills and the compassion to work with other people, and not just the nice people, but the difficult people. They would learn patience and perseverance, that people have good days and bad days and not to judge people by their circumstances. They will become better leaders because they will know what it is like to be lead. It will be a mark of maturity and an attractive characteristic to employers.
Recesses and physical education programs would be mandatory for all school age children. Many of today’s children have had the option of physical play taken away from them and replaced with computer games and rigorous study. They need a chance to exercise their bodies as well as their minds. From a young age children want to move their bodies and instead we teach them that moving is wrong. Let’s let them use the energy they are born with to keep their bodies healthy and active
Commercialism has no place in our school lunch program. Colas and Fried Lunches should not make up the bulk of what children are eating. I would propose to remove vending machines from inside schools ( they can be outside and accessible after school hours)
Stop subsidizing farmers for crops that are not going to be eaten. Stop paying farmers to grow the same crops year after year as the soil dies from monoculture farming. Stop growing food crops to fuel our vehicles instead of our bodies. Start rewarding the farmers for true farming, growing many different crops that also enrich the soil and use less petroleum based fertilizers. For growing crops that can go from the field to the plate. WE DO NOT NEED HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP!!! We don’t need it. Stop growing all that corn and then feeding the excess to cows and chickens to fatten them up. Let the cows eat grass like they were meant to, and we can stop using excessive and expensive antibiotics to keep them from getting sick from eating corn, which is not a natural part of a cows diet.
Farmers would be rewarded for providing fresh healthy food for school lunches to use, or for setting aside land for educational farming to help encourage the future farmers of America.
I would stop terrorizing our citizens and end the prohibition on marijuana use. I would instead spend the money saved and raised, from taxing and regulation, on unbiased education about the truly harmful and dangerous drugs. Not scare tactics or morality pushing, but the facts about each drug and it’s drawbacks AND benefits where they exist. Dangerous drugs would still be illegal and associated with strict punishments.
All citizens should have access to health care and disease prevention. It’s too late when a person has been sick all their lives to claim that they need a healthy lifestyle. Sickness cost more than health. A free yearly physical and dental checkup, on the governments tab, is not too much to provide each citizen, in my opinion.
I would encourage cities to implement public transportation options; buses, trains, bike paths, walking paths. Give people the options and they will use them. Force people to walk in the street and they will choose to drive a gas-consuming vehicle rather than endanger their safety.
I would bring our troops home as soon as possible and ensure that each of them, who have given part of their life in service to our country, will have a job to support themselves upon their return. No one should come home from war and have to be on welfare.
Recycling is Broken! With the exception of aluminum, it takes more energy and resources to recycle almost all the things we have come to think of as recyclable. We can’t fix the problem by making more of it. The three R’s are Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, but we seem to have forgotten all about the first two: REDUCE AND REUSE!
I don’t like the ideas of punitive taxes but I think maybe if we made it more expensive to make disposable products then we can move toward a society which doesn’t think of everything as one-use only. We don’t need more packaging, we need less. Stop the manufacturing of disposable shopping bags, and let the stock dwindle, rewarding consumers for using their own bags, or allowing them to purchase reusable bags. Paper crops can be got from fast growing plants like hemp that take much fertilizer to grow and much less water to process and provide many more harvests per year than the same space of paper trees. We need to move toward making less trash and there will be less to throw away.
Call me naïve on foreign policy, I’d hire staff with experience from all different countries to help me deal with our neighbors. And try to make everyone realize that we are not the only nation on this planet who wants the best for our citizens.
So who was the winner? O_O
