There aren’t many jobs to be found and we all have to find ways to support our means. The only way to make money and live a comfortable life without doing much in this economy is to make money online, cause it’s the easiest thing to do. Now that’s a bunch of crap. If you ever see a message coming from me that says “I made $45,000 last month and here is how you can” know that I am a liar and here is why :
1. There is no opening and closing hours on the web : Whether you are running a blog or an affiliate store, your business has to run around the clock. At some point in time you might be able to automate your business to pull in money, but the fact is, it takes months if not years to get to that point. Making money online isn’t as easy as most make it sound. You don’t have a business hour and that means there are going to be days where you will be working around the clock. Be prepared to work hard. There are no easy way out on the web either. It’s the same as in the real world, the only difference : we tend to trust strangers more often than not.
2. The business runs on autopilot : How great is that? If a business can run on autopilot the very day it launches, count me in. I have been working online for years and I still bust my butt every single day. I have had my share of luxury money (put your feet up and see the money roll) moments but they only last for a few weeks if not days, most of the time. Besides, getting to that point isn’t easy. Once again, it’s tough work and I mean that.
3. Affiliate marketing = Big Money? : Most people trying to lure you into working online are themselves trying to find a way to earn money online. We have all see messages like this floating on the web “John Doe made $45,000 the very first month using Clickbank! Here is his secret.” Great. Good for John. But the person sending out these messages would be happy to see a dollar in their account by the end of the day. Don’t fall for it. They are nothing but scam.
4. Of course you can make money online : There are thousands of people that make money online by doing hundreds of things. Some do what they enjoy and some still loath what they do online, but it pays the bills and at the end of the day that’s what matters. You can make money online but be prepared to go through some rough stages. Couple endless nights and a few cranky days that arise from sleepless nights. There is money to be made online, but there is work to be done and patience to be had.
5. There is only one secret to making money online : Well, I never thought I would unleash the secret to making money online. I have been working from home, living the dream for almost 4 years now. It’s fun. My monthly income is in pennies if you were to compare it to the amount I put on the title. My business doesn’t run on autopilot although I wish it did. Still trying to find the John Doe who I can actually believe in.
My secret to making money online is this :
I bust my gut every single day. It still is a job that pays my bills. And the thing about my work is I am always actively looking for job opportunities (clients). Be prepared to work hard, that’s the only way you can make money online. I am not trying to say that there isn’t money to be made. There is and chances are you can make some big money on the web but it doesn’t happen overnight as most promise. If you are unemployed, at this point your main goal is to find a job that will start paying right away. But, while searching for jobs keep an eye out for opportunities and ideas that might hit big on the web.
And if I ever did make $45,000 a month on the web, trust me, I would be pretty hesitant to share my secret with you. Sorry but that’s just the way I am, a little on the selfish side.
If you ever see those kind of messages coming at you, do me a favor and tell those scammers to get a job.

Absolutely love it! Glad to see someone blog about this. In today’s economy people are looking for revenue streams any where they can.
It’s like anything else – You have to WORK to actually make it happen. And when you are running it all your self – well it can take ALOT of time
Great post – thanks!
I try to tell my clients that it is a lot of work to keep content up to date on a website and that most likely they will not get rich. But it is still possible I there is a lot of money to be made online) if you put in the effort offline as far as marketing also. I stress that a website is like a business card. You can get some money if you place it in the hands of the right people. Good article.
Actually by working hard and consistently, we’ll end up discovering some of the tricks that’ll make a decent money. It’s a matter to stick or to quit, oh don’t forget that networking is key to your success.
Thank you for the post! It’s about time somebody told it like it is.
I read an interesting article the other day which said that the only way to actually make money off a blog is to be consistent in your updates and it’s so true.
The only way you’ll achieve readership, and hence more advertsiers, is to be consistent in your postings. Updating it once a month is not gonna get you loyal readers. You gotta create the demand and your market.
There are already thousands of autobiographical blogs out there and even more being created daily – trust me, nobody really cares about them (besides a couple friends or family members), unless you have a really interesting life or you’re a celeb. Try do something out the box to generate traffic.
Just my two cents
Thanks for the comments guys. Just had to rant a little after seeing so many messages floating on twitter, facebook, etc. And it seems like desperate scammers target desperate job seekers given the economy and job market.
Good post buddy. I agree with what you say. I see these Make Money Scams everyday. They are a waste of time. To earn money isnt that easy. It does require hard work and smart work as well. There are few lucky people who get the money easily. But its few not many
One of the best posts I’ve seen in a while. I am so sick of the scam and hype. I am almost to the point of closing my Twitter account because I am so tired of the constant barrage of “how to get rich schemes” being promoted.
It doesn’t matter whether your job is online or offline you have to work.
@LadyExpat : I know exactly what you mean about the constant barrage on twitter. For a while I was so outraged, I started replying to DMs although I knew they were automated. It’s just frustrating when you follow someone to connect and you get a DM saying “Learn how to make money from your tweets,” just a wrong way to start a conversation and an online relationship at that.
Heya Ritu!
This may be the best dang advice ever to surface over on the interwebs.
Gosh am I so sick of opening Twitter links that leads to some affiliate type of website with the same design and all. Good to see something refreshing with this parody of the whole MMO thing.
I like the banner photo. Creative idea!
By the way, I have some offerings…I have some absolutely stunning Ocean front property in Arizona! LOL great article.
Yes, I could not agree more, work smarter is good, but in today’s world, work harder seems to bring more desirable results!
Hi Ritu,
THis is GREAT. The Best Blog so far and the only blog that makes you want to re-check your GOALS again.
I almost lost my JOB in the beliefs that i can be richer staying ON-LINE and be 45,000 USD richer in no time.
Thanks, Man. This is Good.
AHHHH….at last an honest person! Thank you!!!
lol …probably the best article I have read this year
good post,
Truly, all that glitters is not gold. People often look for money making secrets, of which no one will actually want to give you his money making secret, for a few dollars. The only secret, is hardwork
it is not always very easy to earn money online, it is a lot of work too.’”;
Working hard will dregs you to success

earning money online is a good job specially if you have lots of websites.”;
Dang getting cash without a job has sometimes really been so difficult; most of the time I get some things and work from those. But they get extremely expensive! Trying to make money without any sort of job experience is even harder. A lot of ebooks are so bad, but this post really helped me out. Thanks So Much!
earning money online is just like earning money offline, it also takes a lot of work just to earn a penny *-,
You have done a service with this posting. I plan to post it for my 33,000 Twitter followers as soon as I finish this comment. I have been doing business online for over 20 years, and the one thing I can say without risk of being disputed is that “It’s simple, but it isn’t easy.” I have been working 16-18 hours per day, 6 days per week for 20 years, and it took 10 years of hard work before I was making $25,000 per month. It does pay off in the end, and I am certainly glad to have my business, but there is no such thing as getting rich quick.
