  9. keaton says:

if i lived there i would give them my biz all the time just because they offer that for people who are really down and out!

  10. Hellkom says:

Totally awesome, the world needs more businesses like them! If I lived there I’d use them now by default, no question.

  14. Rahi Delvi says:

    Wow! Kudos to Plaza Cleaners.

  15. Some homeless don’t need or want this service. A lot of them make more money than you’d think.

  16. ReL says:

And a lot of “them” don’t. Also, they didn’t just say homeless, they said unemployed. Dry-cleaning’s expensive and the nice clothes that one might wear to an interview tend to require it. So what are you saying? Just because there are a few homeless folks who make more money than they admit to, nobody should do anything to help the unemployed in general?

  17. Rich McCpy says:

What a bloody lovely thing to do, many companies should take a leaf out of there book and ask them selves what one thing could we do to help our community! Good on them!

  18. Clarkson says:

helps everybody really. Not sure if they had/have this foresight, but IF someone got a job after the free cleaning, where do you think they are gonna go now for cleaning ? Not to mention, this kind of thing spreads word of mouth, and other employed people might be more likely to take their items to be cleaned there, knowing they are helping the business with that charity. Smart marketing me thinks.

  19. Natasha says:

This is just beautiful. The world can be dark and gloomy, but when it shines boy does it shine.

    Damn good.

  20. Alexa says:

    That’s so sweet!

  21. lvleph says:

I emailed them to say thank you for doing this. If I ever live in Portland and am hitting up Plaza Cleaners for all my cleaning.

  22. Laura says:

Glowing Face Man, who said anything about homeless? It says unemployed.

  23. b says:

I think they’re wonderful… if I ever end up in that part of the country, they’ll get my business. :)

  24. This is great… I would only worry that there are some out there that might abuse this kindness. We all know they are out there.

  25. bundyxc says:

This place is in my city. I’m excited to see it making it on the internet.

  26. Jim-bob-away says:

i just have to say, so stoked that people want others to do well. im not homeless or jobless, but this is a step in the right direction that people really need to take. we as people need to take care of this homeless & jobless problem, not just wait for the government to step in

  27. Mick Kennedy says:

How wonderful. Well done Plaza Cleaners.

  28. lighthearted cynic says:

Yeah, the cost of doing a few free cleanings ever so often is nothing compared to all the business they’ll get from the free publicity they’re getting AND all of the good will toward their business they’re generating. Well played, Plaza Cleaners.

  29. be_free says:

When I was unemployed in 2001, the local EDD (in Oakland, CA) had donated business clothing to lend people for interviews, shirts, ties, suits, slacks, etc. I had my own business clothes but I thought it was really cool idea. So rather than to give your decent looking business clothes away to Goodwill (who will sell them), consider giving them to an unemployment office or similar organization.

  30. edsley says:

    such a wonderful gesture! :)

  31. what a great idea! Making money and helping less fortunate.
    Great staff.

  32. Jennifer says:

This has been popping up again and again in my Stumble queue – EVERYONE loves it. I think I’ll send them a Christmas/New Year’s/Thank You card, so they know how much what they’ve done is appreciated. I think it would be awesome if they just got inundated with thanks from people they’ve never seen/met. Not a suggestion, but just picture it in your head. Karma, baby.

I’m nowhere near Oregon, but definitely if I’m out in the Portland area, ever, I’ll give them some business. Even if I don’t need it. I wish I saw more of the from-the-heart caring that this company obviously shows!

  33. don says:

Very nice.I hope this business gets the recognition it deserves from the entire community.

  39. Berto says:

It’s nice to see that not everything and all time is revolving around money.
