I Need a Job Reference – Sure! That Would Be $199

With the rise of the internet, it seems like everyone is trying to grab  a piece of the pie. While trying to make money some are diving a little deep into not so ethical practices. Job search landscape is no different. It seems like when people lose jobs, it’s not just the job search engines that reap the benefits online. It’s services like www.Alibihq.com (we aren’t linking to such services) that reap the benefits as well. We recently came across this service and we were pretty shocked by it.  Basically, it’s a service that will probably help you land a job now but will get you in trouble later, one way or the other. They might not do it directly, but there are going to be consequences if someone ever finds out that you used their services to land a job.

b

Alibihq is a service that lets job applicants buy fake job references, fake employment verification services, etc. Yes it’s pretty bad. A job reference certainly doesn’t guarantee a job and at a price of $199, it might be out of reach for many unemployed. Even if it was within their reach, this is completely unethical and shouldn’t be something that should be even allowed to operate. By the way, they also provide fake Dr. Notes, fake rental references etc. According to Alibihq,

Fake Employment References or “Fake Job References” are essential to your ability to lease an apartment, other rental property or obtain employment. If you have been terminated, suffered an involuntary lay off, or are in a position where you cannot count on positive, supporting references, we can assist you. If you’re in need of Fake Job Reference services, we’ll provide a local or toll free number for your previous employer or employers. We’ll answer all incoming calls as the fictitious company and confirm your dates of employment, indicate that you are eligible to be rehired.

Did you read the part it says “Fake Employment References or Fake Job References are essential?” We agree they are essential but not the fake ones! What if the company decides to release all the information down the road (name, company you applied to, etc.)? They might say that all information are confidential, but for a good sum of money a company that is already offering an unethical service can turn around pretty quick.

All in all, although we are talking about it here on applicant, we don’t want to promote these services. However, we do want you to know that these services exist and the consequences of such practices can be huge in the long run. It’s better not to have a job today than diving into such unethical practices. It might help you land a job today, but if anyone from your company finds out, your reputation may be ruined forever.

  1. This goes back to that old adage that the truth is always easier to remember than lies.

    Incredible.

  2. Jorin Cowley says:

Integrity, Honor, and Legacy; some people nowadays lack the understanding of these words. It’s too bad that there are services like these out there.

    Jorin.

  3. gunner17 says:

    it’s not that simple.

what about people with aspergers or autism or some other such behavioural disability?

these people find it very difficult to make lasting connections with people, and so can often find it impossible to find people willing to vouch for them, even if they are good effective workers and trustworthy people, which they often are.

a service like this would be of great benefit for these people.

  4. William Coffey says:

Sometimes it’s not the persons fault that their references are bad.Sometimes a person makes the wrong enemy ,and they are black balled.False rumors are spread about them in order to drive them out of town, and make them homeless and jobless.Ever heard of gang stalking? For people who are victims of this harassment protocol fake references may be their only chance of getting a job.I thank god for services like this!!!

  5. tim says:

I agree with William 100%. People are sometimes victims of this type of behavior and have no other options. I hope services like these stick around.

  6. Excellent article, I’m a big fan of this site, keep up the good work, and I’ll be a regular visitor for a very long time.

  7. bob says:

“aspergers or autism or some other such behavioural disability” said a patron.

I disagree. Even if someone has a disability its not a good reason to lie, cheat and abuse what little honesty is in the system.

‘I only lied to have a fair chance’ .. ironic.

  8. Kelly is broke says:

Any of you who disagree with this service have obviously not been
    1) Fired
    2) Swindled of out of job
    3) Quit
    4) Hired to a department that was pre-scheduled to close
    5) Had your job stolen by a young upstart
    6) Had a boss or supervisor who was a complete shrew or mental case
    7) Employed yourself for a year or two
    8) Had children and not worked for 18 years
    9) Had an injury that kept you from work
    10) Had a business you worked for close down.

I mean really, none of you? None of the above happened?

ONE of these instances could render you unemployable via a bad reference.

Try being out of work for a year; then come back to this thread and discuss it.

  9. Dave says:

I ran across this a few months back, and it had a post on the site stating it was not real, but part of the marketing for a novel based on a fake-references agency. Whatever the truth of that, the site is gone completely as of July 2010.

I do have some sympathy for people who would use this, though. It’s not only high-flying jobs that ask for references. Someone who has made a mistake should be able to work their way back up if they are willing to start in Burger King.

  10. I agree with “Kelly is Broke”. I myself am a “victim” of my own SELF. I have indeed tried self employment, I did well for a while (as a handy man) then it was failing. I then got involved with a “small-business Man” who was (as it turned out) an opportunistic crook. He “took me” and used me mercilessly, and by the time I realized it and I “gave up”. It was too too late. I’d already DESTROYED my corporate work history, then been YEARS out of work. And then all that noble integrity mentioned above WORKED AGAINST ME as a crook continued to use me. He’s now an absolutely horrid reference, and I actually just LOST a job b/c of him. I was working in a business and now THAT business belives HIM, and I now have ANOTHER bad reference and I am mere WEEKS from living on the street and on top of it I now have NO MONEY to even PURCHASE a “service” like this to “help” me even if it IS only temporary! this is a horrid horrid situation. I will feel LUCKY if a place like burger king even hires me.

really people wake up. it’s BAD out there. and we need to support HUMANS. we are becoming more and more victimized and why?

    we are actually innocent.
but crying out loud about how innocent I am is NOT going to save me.

    I am alone.
    and I am now “lost”

it’s just the way it is.
I probably won’t even have this internet connection much longer.

    nobility?

yeah, it SOUNDS good. but I’ll take the 20 dollar an hour job by any means I can get it. IF I ever get the opportunity. and I Need that right NOW. not after someone decides I’m “worthy” of it.

  11. I can relate says:

I can relate to those who use this service. I quit a job where I was harassed daily by the mob. There was professional jealousy, I had made a mistake on an evaluation of another employee the employee was HR. The director shared what was said on the eval and I was on the —-list since. I have learned over the years that we have a society that is inhumane in behavoir, jealouss of those who try to be nice, or climb up the ladder honestly with hard work. Like I said I made mistakes but I do not deserve a bad reference, I would be happy if they just gave my exist interview reason for leaving. I was quite honest.( and calm and at peace, it was time to go)

  12. Kara says:

i truly appreciated your web log, also, I obtained a great deal of awarenes regarding the subject. i have some sort of web log from the identical market. regards for all the information. i’m sorry regarding my own terrible english, im out of indonesia.

  13. I Am Not A Crook!! says:

EVERYONE lies in the job market…

How is using a social networking to circumvent the usual hiring process honest? Or using sorority or fraternity connections? Or hiring folks simply because they are a certain race, sexual orientation, gender, religion, or favored group member?

For those who get on their high horse about “dishonesty” and “unethical behavior”, I would dare to guess that they are some of the biggest moral criminals within their organization!

Or they are the lost children of the CEO and don’t know they are leading charmed lives!

  14. FAKE JOB REFERENCE SERVICE.

    http://www.TheReferenceStore.com

The Reference Store sells fake job references to the public. Men and women that face barriers to getting hired may use a reference service to help minimize or even eliminate these barriers. There is no clear profile as to who might use a reference service. Clients range from business professionals to kids right out of school. Both Young and old workers alike are starting to flock to references services to give them an “Edge” on the competition. Some of its clients include:

    1. Business Executives
    2. Stay at home moms.
    3. The Homeless.
    4. Convicted Felons.

After a client places his / her order, The operations dept. goes to work building fake companies, fake supervisors and a new fake employment history. When prospective employers call for references, they are actually calling The Reference Store.

The Reference Store acknowledges the ethical questions a service like this raises. However, The Reference Store believes it is serving a greater good. Putting Americans back to work is The Reference Stores main objective. The Reference Store believes everyone deserves a second chance. But honestly, how many employers are really willing to hire a stay-at-home mom, that hasn’t worked in 8 years? The Reference Store opens an alternative route to employment by making its clients more attractive as job candidates.

  15. Yuk Dage says:

I noticed this on page 21 in the search engines and this is considered to be a shame. I’m not any specialist however what you are writing in this post sounds true. More people really should be aware of it.
