What makes you stand out among other job applicants in your field?

Being a thinker and a doer allows me to stand-out among other job applicants in my field. I don’t simply observe things that can be done or should be done to enhance business or provide staff with an opportunity to improve their job performance, I provide cost effective, doable solutions for authentic concerns. I strongly believe in contributing to my employer’s success. In addition to formulating solutions, I develop action-steps to implement the solutions, but I don’t stop there, I work with staff and management to execute the plans. When reading through my resume it’s hard not to notice my stable work history and solid career growth with incremental increases in responsibility.

Today, one does not hear much about employees working their way from the mailroom to the boardroom. However, I am one of the few workers who posses this type of in-depth business knowledge. Working in marketing has been an excellent fit for my skills because I am able to identify with and relate to the needs of clients and employers. When working with a company my objective is to put into action initiatives that will allow the business not just to meet their goals but to exceeded their expectations. I have identified and developed relationships with vendors. I have used my writing skills, research ability and knowledge of graphic design to create booklets, pamphlets, programs, agendas and newsletters. Former employers have also appreciated my computer skills and have requested that I test software programs prior to purchase to ensure that they met the company’s needs and expectations. I have created professional quality PowerPoint presentations for high-end corporate meetings and events. Coming in early and staying late when my assistance is needed for a special project or to meet a deadline is viewed as an opportunity. I’ve done and hope to continue doing these things and more because I enjoy my work.

The rewards of my job can be many and varied ranging from putting a smile on a once worried face to hearing the sound of relief coming from a voice over the phone. Once in a while a word-of-mouth complement will make its way back to me and sometimes I am able to see and touch places where projects that I’ve worked on have made a impact and literally changed the landscape.
