Job Search : Guitar, Song, YouTube and Creativity

b23

We have been seeing more and more creative approaches to finding jobs lately. As times get tough and job applicants find themselves competing against hundreds and thousands for the same job, it’s best to take a different approach at times. Some may not be recognized but if you are in a creative field, your creativity in trying to land a job may speak more about your qualification than the resume itself. Early on we saw sites such as twittershouldhireme.com which was an effort from Jamie Varon to land a job on twitter and it received lots of publicity. She was also mentioned on the frontpage of Fortune.com. As you can see, creativity can help you set apart from the rest of the unemployed world.

Here is another attempt from a creative unemployed to land a job. Alec Biedrzycki, a recent graduate took a different route than most after getting fed up with his job search. Although the video hasn’t helped him land a job yet, CNN found the video and contacted him for an interview. This will help him get even more exposure and many others like us will be talking about this as well. A creative way to get yourself heard and differentiate from the herd. Alec’s video resume is embedded below.

We wish Alec all the best!

If you have taken a different route to hunting for jobs feel free to share with us. Also take a look at these creative resumes to see how people differentiate themselves from the rest.
