Online education can be a more affordable option than traditional universities, but it’s not free. Assuming your online degree will be easy to pay for is a sure road to discouragement. But you also shouldn’t assume you can’t pay for it, there is financial assistance out there. We’ve highlighted 15 scholarships, grants, and resources aimed at funding your success story via online education.


This indispensable tool connects you to every state scholarship, grant, loan program, tax credit, and reduced expense program in the United States. You can search by state or by region, and it also organizes the programs according to target career, military benefits, and more.

Many financial assistance programs cater only to students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree, but fear not. This online leader offers eight different scholarships for Master’s and Doctoral students.

The College Board is the official organization behind the SATs you fell in love with during high school. Each December, this education Web site awards a $1,000 scholarship through an essay contest.

If you are in a low-income situation, applying for federal programs such as the Pell Grant is an absolute must. You can apply for free (hence the name) and determine which programs you are eligible for. Don’t think for a minute that online programs aren’t eligible. University of Pheonix, DeVry University, and Kaplan University are among the leaders in FAFSA recipient education.
