It’s no surprise that lately every web application is somehow related to Twitter. Yesterday we came across a new service called TwitRes that lets users upload and tweet their resume on twitter within seconds. To give it a try we uploaded our Resume 3.0 to test their service and it worked pretty good. Although there are many services that lets you upload and tweet documents, the fact that this service is for resume alone might gain some appeal. However, in the long run we are not sure how sustainable it really is. But for now, if you are looking to publish your resume on twitter this might be a good option.
To use the service you have to login using your twitter account. Once logged in you can upload a .doc, .docx, .PDF, .txt and .rtf files. You can then add your own tweet such as “check out my resume” etc. in the box and send out your tweet. When testing, the link to the resume was published right away. Below is a screen shot of what it looks like once you are signed in.

Once you hit the upload button your tweet along with the link to the original format of your resume is posted to twitter instantly. The nice thing about this service is that it has a social element to it. As you all know, we are quite big on the whole social aspect of job search. When users on twitter click on the link they are then directed to the resume which is hosted on TwitRes. When you get to the resume page you have a few options such as – comments, recommendations, share, download and email. You can also print the resume directly. Those are some of the features we think sets this service apart from the rest and the interface is really clean and highlights the resume. Here is a screen shot of the page you are directed to when you click on the link. Please click on the image to see the actual page (the resume we uploaded is a spoof called Resume 3.0)
Another thing that we like about this service is that it allows you to share your resume to LinkedIn directly through their platform. When you hit the share button you are provided with two options : Tweet this and LinkedIn. It certainly is an added and a good feature that you can send resume directly from TwitRes to LinkedIn. You can then choose whether you want to send resume to your connection and/or groups you belong to. Here is a screen shot showing exactly how it goes.

TwitRes also lets you track how many times your document has been viewed. All in all we think it’s a pretty good service if you are looking to send your resume out on twitter and LinkedIn. If you are applying for jobs, it doesn’t hurt to upload your resume on TwitRes for more visibility. Also if someone ends up leaving comments and recommendations it gets ever better.
Let us know what you think.
TwitRes is a service launched by resume hosting service ResumePark.

I sure hope folks don’t hastily share too much personal information. Many resumes are still NOT web savvy or web-safe (so to speak.)
I agree with you there Jim
I couldn’t said it better. I heard somebody got fired because they something different on their twitter and same goes with social networking. It’s better to keep things descent and clean. Now how to write a resume? Just keep it clean and professional. No grammar errors, no I and me statement, and use specific figures when you can.
